Likewise, Experience Builder also gives us templates we can choose from, to quickly get an application up and running. With Web AppBuilder’s intuitive templates, we can easily create captivating web applications. It is also designed to offer even more flexibility than any of Esri’s other out-of-the-box app builder tools, namely, Web AppBuilder, StoryMaps, and ArcGIS Dashboards. ![]() Released earlier this year, Experience Builder takes advantage of modern web development technologies (React, TypeScript, and ArcGIS API for JavaScript 4.x) and allows us to transform data into compelling GIS-centric web applications - without writing a single line of code. If you are like me and require more flexibility, well, fear not! ArcGIS Experience Builder might be able to help you with that. However, I sometimes find myself in a situation thinking, ‘oh I need that real-time monitoring feature from ArcGIS Dashboards’ or ‘I wish I could have a 3D map and a 2D map in my web application’ but limited to the templates given to me. The needs of your project and user interactions will help determine which path to choose. Nevertheless, there will be scenarios that require Web AppBuilder. In most scenarios, Experience Builder will be the better option for your new applications due to its extremely customizable layout and advanced capabilities. Taking some time to research available widget functionalities in both builders is an important step. For instance, if the Parcel Drafter or Public Notification widgets are important, you will need to stick with Web AppBuilder. This means the functionality needs of your final product may be the deciding factor for which builder you choose. However, at this stage in development, Experience Builder has fewer widgets available than Web AppBuilder.
